Fighting For Our Country At Home
Abortion
We are committed to a pro life approach to abortion. A prime example is Palin’s own approach to her daughters pregnancy and how she used her as a teaching tool for others. However, we believe the state should have the right, over a federal government, to determine individual cases and situations. The constitution gives us all the right to privacy and it includes women and abortion. Roe v. Wade is a cornerstone case of abortion in a federal court and how the constitution is called to power in privacy of ones rights.
Palin does agree with abortion when a mothers life is at risk. Also, because of pro life, we don’t agree with abortion because of a child being born with special needs. We believe every baby is created with an important role in the future. Palin has presented this belief in her Safe Haven Bill in February of 2008. This bill allows mothers or fathers to hand over their newborns to a peace officer and won’t be persecuted against as long as the baby is healthy.
Family
The American family is changing as fast as the days on a calendar. We have recently changed from a traditional family to a modern family. To the Republican party, including Sarah Palin, families and family time is very important. This ties in with our views of abortion and the pro life standpoint. Palin gives us a prime example of being a family person when she supported her 17 year old daughter through a pregnancy and raising a special needs child herself. Also, because families are so important we recognize the vital role of family child care in homes.
Feminism
As a country we base ourselves on equality. Palin is a strong feminist who sees the current issues our country faces with creating equal opportunity. We do not stand for the oppression of women and believe in equal pay for equal work. Also, because Palin is a woman candidate for president we want to pave the path for women in the future to set high goals and work hard to succeed.

War
As the Republican party we fully support the war in Iraq. We will not surrender with a white flag and will finish what we started. Our main goal is to build a government that can governs it’s people after we leave. We know pulling out now would undo everything we have already done to aid in support. We cannot afford to lose in Afghanistan or Iraq because we will not lose the war on terror. Not only are we fighting for our country but attempting to build new relations with other countries. We give full funding support to the war because we want to make sure the safety of our country and our soldiers is key priority.

Homeland Security
The events of September 11th have changed our country forever. Nuclear weapons, suicide terrorists, and warfare on our own soils are major threats to our people. Therefore, because of these threats we push for a strong military, boarder patrol, and other DHS funded groups to protect our people and our land. Palin understands the importance of homeland security and so does her son, Track, who signed up for the United States Army to help aid in support.

Supporting Troops
Support for our troops is crucial for the Republican party to push for. Our troops are fighting in a war to give freedom to another country and we give full support to those who fight and their families. Also, because of these men they are keeping us safe at home. Palin supports the troops, their mission, and the idea of keeping our home soils safe from insurgents.

Immigration
As the Republican party we support a path to citizenship but we do not agree with granting amnesty for illegal immigrants. Those who are legal in our country deserve the right to be first to receive the benefits we have to offer. However, we understand why people come to our country and do support the process of becoming a legal immigrant. This land is of great prosperity, safety, and freedoms that we don’t hold from immigrants as long as they follow the rules in our country to becoming a citizen. Our country is founded upon a belief of equal opportunity. However, if you abuse the system and what our country stands for we will not grant you amnesty or allow you to go through the process of becoming a citizen.

Gun control
Americans need a sense of safety in their own homes and by removing guns we take the calming feeling away from our people that guns provide. These weapons serve as a purpose of self-defense, hunting, and for recreational purposes. Not only do we support the right to bear arms and Americans second amendment right but also we supported ending D.C.’s 32 year old ban on handguns. Palin supported this in the case Columbia vs. Heller when it was struck down in the high courts.

Foreign Policy
Relations between countries is a high priority for the United States. We understand spreading freedom and democracy to oppressed citizens under a tough country is important. The U.S. tries to remain neutral in all foreign dealings but will protect those we have allied with. As republicans we want to be involved with foreign policy to the maximum and want to build relations with other members leading other countries. We also want to create a better lifestyle for those who suffer in other locations.

Taxes
Taxes can make or break a country and it’s funding for it’s own needs like paying back debts and war. We all know now the recession we face is far worse then the one Regan had to deal with in the early 1980’s. To those who believe tax reductions under Regan ended the recession are wrong. We know people right now need help in the middle class because it suffers the most during a recession. We also know everyone benefits when the government takes less from it’s people. People tend to invest their money they are earning and in return it creates jobs and a need for specialization in an economy. We don’t want to burden our people but also need to take enough to keep our country a float.

Budget
A major issue in the news is the national deficit. As republicans we understand government spending as well as stimulus packages need to be reduced to lessen the debt. Bailouts are good to a certain extent but we need to be wise with who and what we bail out. Lenders got us into this mess of an economy and we plan to tighten standards of lending to avoid another housing crisis. Palin plans to place money in programs that can help build our economy to create a better job market for a well educated public. Palin has proven she can reduce government spending when she cut the luxuries that are un needed in every day life most government officials have abused.

Social Security
In our campaign we support funding social security and the longevity bonus program for our seniors. Without these programs seniors would be the ones forgotten. Most would go without food and housing. They are American citizens and it’s our duty to strive to take care of our elderly. Also, we support home health care programs because it is more cost-effective than institutions and allows seniors to stay at home and live with pride. We plan to respect and give full support to seniors in our administration.

Welfare
Many people in our welfare systems today rely upon the support our country gives them. We want to encourage those who use this system, that are able to work, to attempt to enter the workforce. There are programs in universities now that allow low income families to receive financial aide so they can better their chances to get a career. There are also ways for those who work to receive breaks from taxes. One such programs is the EITC tax credit for those who work for low wages. This allows them to get back money they earned to invest in their families. This program can and does lift families out of poverty and places them back into the workforce. Palin strongly encourages low income homes to apply for this tax break.

Jobs
The unemployment rate is soaring through the roofs and is currently about 9%. We understand we need to build a stronger workforce through training. K12 schools are moving away from teaching job skills and emphasizing how important getting an education is. On average a college graduate compared to a high school graduate makes around 1 million dollars more and because of this we want to place money into a job-training voc-tech curriculum. This would allow un educated people trying to get a job in the workforce to be more appealing on paper. Also, it would allow us to put workers through union and non-union training before entering a job.

Technology
Technology is the latest area of interest for research and also the workforce. Things like wind farms, geothermal plants, computers, and others are providing more permanent jobs for a variety of people. It requires the manual up-keep as well as the people to create and run programs. We would like to create state funded programs, like the one proposed in Alaska for a highway, to bring a better environment and economy for our country.
Education
Education in America today and the standards of the quality the children receive is becoming less of a priority. With the economy schools have had to lay off thousands of teachers and cut back spending on programs. We promise to reform education and plan to provide money for early learning, voc-tech, and accountability programs under our administration. Also, Palin believes that there needs to be more flexibility in the no child left behind policy. Proper funding needs to be allocated to school districts so we are investing more in a child’s education more now then ever. American standards of education are slipping through the cracks and the buildings themselves. Palin understands funding needs to also be placed into the facilities and how important that is.

Palin also feels that, along with public schools, charter and rural boarding schools, home schooling and technical schools should be considered for children’s education. We believe that opening the door to a school closes prison doors and allows children to prepare for more than college. Schools are meant to teach children how to manage everyday life and learn the skills to be successful in a job market. Therefore, Palin fully plans to fund and support alternate schools.
Health Care
Health care has always been a controversial issue when it comes to Washington. Many have tried to reform the system, like Bill Clinton, and failed miserably. There are ways that could help Americans and take away their freedom of choice all at the same time. As Republicans, we want the best of two worlds so all Americans can enjoy the health care we have available in our country. Palin and McCain promoted a $5,000 tax credit for families, who don’t have any, to buy their own coverage. We don’t want to mandate Americans to a government regulated healthcare program. Also, we want to remove state lines so competition , in the insurance market, can allocate what plans are best for Americans. This way more options and choices are available to those who want and need health insurance.
